The T-TEN Maintenance Technician Associate in Science Degree: Year one of the T-TEN program is designed to prepare the students for maintenance technician employment in Toyota or Lexus dealerships. Training is given in theory and practical skills. Directed practical work is given in vehicle maintenance, electrical, brake, chassis and suspension during year one of the T-TEN program under simulated on-the-job conditions. Particular emphasis is placed on those competencies required of Toyota and Lexus technicians. The program will provide the student the opportunity to acquire the maintenance and light repair knowledge and skills required by Toyota and Lexus dealers. The course sequence for T-TEN is shown in the order required.The following program is designed to prepare students for employment as automotive technicians and in numerous other related areas of the automotive and transportation industry. Training is given in both theory and practical skills. Directed practical work is given in all areas of automotive maintenance and repair under simulated on-the-job conditions. The sequence in which courses are taken may be modified to meet individual needs. To earn an Associate Degree students must complete: (1) all major course requirements with a grade of C or better; (2) Cypress College Native General Education requirements; California State University General Education Breadth requirements (CSU GE Breadth) or IGETC General Education requirements; (3) any elective courses to complete a minimum of 60 units; and, (4) have a minimum GPA of 2.0. At least 50% of all major course work must be completed at Cypress College. Courses that fulfill major requirements for an Associate Degree at Cypress College might not be the same as those required for completing the major at a transfer institution offering a Baccalaureate Degree.
