The Court Reporting Certificate -  The courses listed are required to meet the requirements of the Court Reporter’s Board. This program was accredited by the CR Board on March 7, 1978. Academic courses completed in Adult Education or a private Court Reporting School are not transferable. To earn a certificate, complete the required courses as listed with a grade of C or better. At least 50% of all course work must be completed at Cypress College. STUDENTS MUST FURNISH THEIR OWN MACHINE AND PAPER. This certificate requires a total of 29 units.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

OUTCOME 1: Acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and ability to take dictation at 225 words per minute, along with the academic preparation and technological knowhow to be employed in the field of official court reporting, Federal court reporting, and deposition reporting in the state of California or on a national level. This course of study will prepare the student to take and pass the Registered Professional Reporter’s (RPR) examination administered by the National Court Reporters Association. The RPR license allows individuals to work in all states in the union at the Federal level of reporting. This coursework is necessary in order to work as a Registered Professional Reporter.
