The Associate in Arts Degree in Geography is designed to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the three distinct areas of geographic studies (Earth Science/Environmental Studies/ Physical; Earth Technologies; and Human Studies) in order to give them the background knowledge needed by undergraduate geography majors for university transfer and coursework, while emphasizing the practical applications of geographic skills and knowledge in a diversity of careers and the utility of geographic perspectives as a life-long learning tool for interpreting our world's complex systems and world events. To earn an Associate Degree students must complete: (1) all major course requirements with a minimum grade of “C”; (2) Cypress College Native General Education requirements; California State University General Education Breadth requirements (CSU GE Breadth) or IGETC General Education requirements; (3) any elective courses to complete a minimum of 60 units; (4) complete all graduation requirements; and (5) have an overall GPA of 2.0.
