Combining economics principles with business practices, this certificate program provides students with the necessary knowledge to make informed financial decisions. Students will gain an understanding of supply and demand and resource allocation issues, marketplace competitive factors, consumer purchasing patterns, and money-management and investment strategies. To earn a certificate, complete the required courses as listed with a grade of C or better. At least 50% of all course work must be completed at Cypress College. This certificate requires a total of 12 units.

Program Student Learning Outcomes
Outcome 1: Acquire knowledge and workforce preparation skills in both private and professional life. The student will have a solid foundation to transfer to a four-year institution if that is the goal, including understanding the economics of healthcare; the market systems, firms, the stock market, and corporate governance, the different market structures, the market forces such as supply and demand, money, banking, and the Federal Reserve System, unemployment & inflation, fiscal & monetary policies, economic growth, the financial system, & business cycle, International trade and the exchange rate system, necessary for employment in legislative offices; financial institutions; legal offices, and hospitals; for a career in banking; law; business entrepreneurship, business partnership, policy-making and finance.
