The Aviation Management Certificate provides students with a career path for attaining the foundational skills, practical knowledge, and technical training necessary for pursuing a career in aviation management. Students completing this certificate will develop an advanced understanding of the safety, security, service and regulatory requirements necessary to work in aviation management. To earn this certificate, complete the required courses with a grade of C or better. At least 50% of all course work must be completed at Cypress College. This certificate requires a total of 35-36 units.

Program Goals

  1. Provide students with the academic preparation needed for a career in aviation management.
  2. Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the aviation industry.
  3. Provide those individuals currently working within the industry the opportunity to further their understanding, knowledge and skills in the field.
  4. Provide students with hands-on training by experts in the field, as well as direct contact with these professionals as a counseling and job placement tool.
  5. Provide students with an opportunity to obtain a certificate acknowledging their completion of the courses comprising the certificate, and a tool for obtaining gainful employment. The objective of this program is to provide these skills through traditional teaching methods with an emphasis on a practical, “hands-on” education that will give the students an added “edge” in job market competition.

Program Objectives

  1. Develop in the student a broad-based skill set or competencies that will lead to success in the aviation industry.
  2. Utilize a sequence of courses that will lead to improvement of the entry-level skills and abilities of future employees.
  3. Identify career ladder opportunities in the aviation industry.
  4. Organize the curriculum into a certificate program so that the award of a certificate can be used by the industry as a criterion in their hiring process.
  5. Provide specific training that will enable current and prospective employees to better achieve the business goals of their employers.
